2 Ways To Adjust An Alarm System For Your Pet

If you have pets and you want to get an alarm system, you may wonder how you are going to manage to have an alarm system and keep it from going off all the time because your pets set it off. However, there are things that you can do that will allow you to get an alarm system and make sure it doesn't go off regularly.

Pet Door

If your pet is a dog, then they probably have to go outside on a regular basis. You may have a pet door for them to go outside and come back so that you don't have to go open the door for them all the time. However, you may worry that the pet door is a weakness in your system. You can ask the alarm system to wire that door, but that means that your pet is going to set it off every time they go outside. Luckily, the solution is pretty easy. There are doors that you can get that will stay locked unless they get the right signal. You put a RFID tag on your pet's collar. When they go near the door, it unlocks the door, allowing your pet in or out. That will also make sure the alarm won't go off when the door opens.

Motion sensors

You may also want to have motion sensors outside your house, especially around a backdoor that may not be as visible from the streets. You may also want to have lights that are triggered by those same motion sensors. However, when your pet is outside, that can be triggered which will turn the light on or trigger the alarm. No one wants to be woken up at 3 am because the light has all of a sudden flashed on and it's shining right in their bedroom. The alarm company can help you with that. Those motion sensors can be set so that they ignore things that are under a certain weight and/or size. The sensors can also be angled so that they only sense things above a certain height. That will keep you from waking up at 3 am with a bright light in your eyes or your alarm going off.
